Evaluation- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
As you can see these are three processes i have done when editing my photos. When I carried out this I came across a few difficulties for example when selecting around an image to crop out the background, It was hard to get a smooth edge around the subject I was cropping around. It took a lot of patients because some of the backgrounds where hard to crop around which made it difficult. When producing my front cover I tried to get my font from dafont.com but when trying to crop around the text it appeared to be very difficult and I decided not to use it and use a font from photo shop. If I was maybe more experienced with photo shop I would know how to do it properly. Even though I am happy with the font I used I felt I went for the easy option instead of trying again to use a font from dafont.com. I also found it difficult to put the font behind my main picture and making it blend it and not look really badly done. When coming across this problem I repeated it over and over again making sure that is was as best as I could have done I have also shown how i did this process above.
Evaluation- How did you attract/address your audience?
When wanting to attract my target audience I thought it
was highly important to include the latest artists, gossip and things that
young people would be interested in. There is a huge difference between older
people and younger people for example the interests and the different types of
magazines they would read. Young people are highly influenced by things they
read about in magazines and what they watch on TV. I wanted my magazine to
attract the right audience and by doing this I wanted to include pictures that
relate to young people. Headlines and pull quotes that would highly influence
my target audience. All teenagers/ young people long to feel part of a group
and I think music brings together peoples interests to share music. I wanted my magazine to bring
together young people that share a massive interest in R&B and hip hop
music. I did this by creating headlines that included stories about drake,
Frank ocean and Chris Brown. I wanted this to attract my audience. This is how i set out to attract my audience and before i could do that i had to ask my audience questions so that i was sure on their needs and what would suit them.
When creating my magazine I thought it was important to find out as much information from my target audience as possible. I carried out a questionnaire for my target audience and below I have displayed the results. The first questioned as I asked was if you were to buy a music magazine how often would you buy one? I thought this question was very important when producing my magazine because I would need to know when to produce it and how often a new addition came out. As you can see from my results more than half and the majority of people said that they would buy the magazine once a month this had shown clearly that producing my magazine once a month would be ideal and suit them best. The second question I asked was looking at this table of social class where would you rate yourself? i displayed a table of social class you had to choose between a grade which would suit you best raging from upper middle class and middle class to working class, unemployed and dependents I thought it was important to find out who was more likely to purchase my music magazine the results show a mix between the different social classes. C1 and C2 social grade came out the highest which meant that people that are lower middle class and skilled working class. Even though they came out the highest there was a still a high per cent from AB and DE in the social grade. The third question I asked was what attracts you most to a music magazine? I thought it was important to find out what my target thought and what attracts them the most. The majority thought the celebrity story was the most important as well as the headline. This was a important question to ask because it gave me an idea what to include on my DPS and my main headline. The fourth question i asked was where would you consider buying your magazine from? It showed that most would purchase their magazine from the supermarkets even though results show a range of ways how to purchase their music magazines. The fifth question was how much would you pay for a music magazine? I wanted to find out what price would suit my target audience and how much they would consider to pay. The results they would pay mostly £1-2 this was a huge help because it helped me decide the price of my magazine because it showed a clear understanding of how much they thought would be acceptable to pay.

Evaluation- Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience I chose was 15-24 year olds
who are interested in R&B and hip hop music. I chose this audience because
I think they would be highly interested in this type of magazine. The audience
I chose will have a strong connection with my magazine. When doing my planning and research I created
my own reader profile which I have shown. It shows that 60% of my readers will
be female the 40% of men and the median age will be 20 If I was to produce a
music magazine that would be published I would research this further to make
sure all my statistics where correct. The audience I wanted to created was
based massively on social circles and most likely to know what is going on. I
wanted them to be young and have a understanding in music and be massively
influenced by my magazine from the stories of the R&B and hip hop artists.
I wanted to create my audience a massive strong connection to relate to the
magazine and the artists and journalists which all share the same interest in
music. I created my own focus group when starting my research finding out about
what people would pay for a magazine finding out peoples different interests in
music genres finding this information
out helped me I took all this information on board when choosing my chosen
genre and my target audience. After finding it out producing my magazine and
seeing if I have followed the right conventions and produced my magazine
correctly I created another video with audience feedback. Asking questions to
see if my magazine appeals to my correct target audience and if it follows the
genre of R&B and hip hop magazine. Tuesday, 12 March 2013
Evaluation- What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I based my magazine on VIBE magazine, this magazine also fits the genre that my magazine does R&B and hip hop. You can tell this by the main artist on the front being Drake, He is a massive R&B artists with the main headlines stating his name. Vibe had a huge influence on my magazine by taking aspect from it to inspire my own. As you can see from this front cover of vibe and my own magazine front cover. I tried to include the same such as ‘exclusive’ and the big bold headline and the artist being in front of the title. Vibe was founded and first published by Quincy Jones. Vibe was purchased by the private equity investment fund Intermediary Partners and is now issued every-other month with double covers, with a larger online presence. The magazine's target demographic is predominantly young, urban followers of hip-hop culture. This matches the interests of my target audience which my magazine included big names with double covers and the same style. I want my magazine to be distributed with intermediary Partners I think this would benefit my magazine because of how successful Vibe has become which is based on this genre it is a huge R&B and hip hop based magazine and I think if my magazine was associated with this institution it would promote and help it massively. I would have huge advantage if I used this institution to distribute my product because they know what works well and how to sell and promote R&B and hip hop magazines for example using the internet and what to include. If I was to use this distributer I think the magazine would be associated with Vibe magazine which would be seen as meeting the high standards of Vibes music magazine and audience. My own magazine would be introduced to Vibes audience and target audience which is seen as the same target audience as mine which would help because it would fit my reader profile and my magazine would in introduced to the people it is suited for. Evaluation- How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Above
shows the Psychographics I produced when doing my research on my target
audience. I have displayed advertising and market research they are used by all institutions which are linked in with an audience. I showed that my magazine will focus on A, B, C1 social grades which all appeal to a certain social group. The Maslow's Hierarchy of needs is show also this it a pyramid of different levels each of a different he believes you move up the pyramid through the different stages of education. Once you finish education for example you leave uni you then move back down to the bottom he believes that this is the circle of life. I clearly indicated that I think people who will read my magazine will fall into the social and esteem levels. This means that they have self-esteem, status, respect and admiration of others. As well as the need to belong to group. my demographics I mentioned in my prezi which
shows the target audience. When you're young i think most people think it is very important to feel part of a group which have the same interest feel like they're up to date with all the latest music and gossip. People who feel part of a group will here about my magazine pulse and they will share it too thier social group. This is how i tried to appeal to my audience using popular artists. Evaluation- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Throughout my magazine I tried to create continuity I used
the same main font throughout my magazine for example the title PULSE and using
the same font for contents also for the main headlines on my front cover. I
kept the main colour scheme throughout my magazine which is black and gold and
white I wanted it to run through my whole magazine making the theme very clear
and show clear continuity throughout, I included these colours on my front
cover, contents on my double page spread I included pink because I thought it
linked in with the photo. My main photo was black and white which went well
with my main colour schemes. My two main photos are linked together on my
contents page and double page spread because these photo’s where taken on the
same shoot with the continuity of the same outfit and lightening in the photo.
My story’s all link in which are the main headlines on my front cover to what
the stories are on my contents page my original drafts I created did not have
these but after improving and developing my work to produce my finals I made
sure they all had the same theme throughout .
The same artist is used on my front cover, contents page and double page
spread but also including pictures of another model. But on the contents page
and double page spread the photos are the most dominant. Compared to my front
cover she is wearing a different outfit which links in with the continuity of
the contents page and the double page spread. The main headline about Kristina
Ray which is then gone into more detail of what this artist is featured
followed by the full story on my double page spread, it all links I and makes It
clear to understand.

Teachers Feed back
After
looking at my teacher’s feedback on one of my draft contents pages I will consider the changes she suggests for my next drafts and my final contents
page. I have a lot of black space on the top of this draft I will
try and re arrange this so I don't have so much free space. I need to
include the name of my magazine so I
will rearrange
and maybe
add
the name of my magazine here. The photos I added to this contents page don't seem to
create continuity throughout my magazine. I will look at the different photos I have
took and see which ones link in with my product. The other smaller image I have
included doesn't create more continuity throughout my magazine so I think
I need
to take this image off my magazine. The text on this draft is not very clear
and straight forward to read. I need to make it clear which ones are my
headlines and smaller text underneath explaining what the article or story is about. I
need to separate
the
sections so they're easy to read i need the reader to be able to easily
locate which story goes with each headline and page number. On this draft
contents page I’ve
only
included 23 pages the price i have priced my product I think
I need
to add more page numbers. I will place all my page numbers down the side next
to the story's
so
they're easy to read. I need to change the page numbers so they're straight
forward to need and they all stand out in comparison to the text.

Strengths: Photos look good and well layed out.
Areas of improvement: Check spelling and proof read it. The CON needs to be more on the page.
Stengths: nice variation of photos, good use of colour.
Areas of improvement: a bit simple? and some of the text doesnt work 'fashion'.
Strengths: I like the variety of pictures and the continuous colour scheme; it shows that it's consistent. I also like the way the colours and outfits work well with your genre.
Areas of improvement: The title could maybe be in a different layout and the pages could be set out a bit more neatly.
Other Comments: Overall, I like the way the colour scheme works with your genre and the variety of different pictures shows what else is in your magazine.

Response to feedback
I
have looked at my feedback of my music magazine front cover. I will take these
comments into consideration when improving my front cover and blog. I will try
to carry out more research for the planning my music magazine and add it too my
blog looking at prices, costume ideas, lighting mise-en-scene. I will add more headlines
and more detail and look at the positioning of the cover lines making sure they
look In place and neat. I need to add a date and price to my magazine and follow conventions of existing music magazines. This feedback has really helped so I can improve my blog
and front cover and make it the best of my ability.

Overall assessment of blog: You have put alot of thought into your research. You have taken alot of images and this is a good thing as you have alot of images to choose for your final front cover.
Strengths of front cover: The image you have chosen is good, on a whole it looks like it belongs on the magazine and also looks very 'musicy' in relation to your chosen genre. Your coverlines work with your chosen genre, you can also tell which is your main coverline.
Areas for development: You need to do research in to the way other music magazines position their coverlines as at the moment they look all over the place.

Overall assessment of blog: Good use of research into your magazines music genre. You also have a wide variety of potential front cover pictures to choose from, which is good.
Strengths of front cover: The image takes up a good amount of the front cover. I also like the fact that the image is in black and white, it is very effective and relevant to the genre of your music magazine.
Areas to improve: Possibly make the font smaller and include more cover lines on your front cover to fill in the blank spaces. Include conventions such as a date line/price of the magazine and maybe add more detail to the barcode. The second image could be in colour to make it stand out more.

Cover Feedback;
- Image used is great, clear understanding of medium close up and that is conventional of the magazines now a days!
- The cover lines are clear and bold which is just what a magazine needs.
- As already discussed more work on the magazine is needed in terms of prices, datelines and banners but this can be put into practise afterwards.
- The barcode is clear and effective, put in a simple yet good place and wont need much more doing in that area.
- Try adding splashes or effects (Such as a star with writing in advertising something)
- Over all good use of colour scheme, if you are sticking to this try use more gold colours in the banners etc to catch the audiences eyes! ( It also looks very classy)
- Im not sure the second image is needed however that image would look great as the actual cover! try do a draft with that one aswell! :)

Great images, plenty of them. I like the front covers as well but could do with it being more detailed :)
